We celebrate World Autism Day
We make visible the reality and capabilities of all people
World Awareness Autism Day is celebrated on Tuesday, April 2. A date declared by the General Assembly of the United Nations whose objective is to make visible the need to help people with autism enjoy a better quality of life, as well as greater social integration. In Mediterranean Shopping Center we also wanted to collaborate with the celebration of this day. For this, we have had the presence of the students of the CEIP Ginés Morata, a school located near the shopping center, which has read a manifesto with the support of Alcampo.
In this way, we have contributed our small grain of sand to a cause that, fortunately, is increasingly visible among society. In fact, the most recent data indicate that around 50,000 school-age children have autism in Spain. In addition, the latest official reports confirm that there are around 300 thousand people in Spain diagnosed with some type of ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). Within these disorders, the most common are usually classic autism, Rett syndrome, Asperger syndrome, the general disorder of unspecified development and the infantile disintegrative.
Be that as it may, we have to be aware that society is diverse, and increasingly it will be more so. In this sense, the important thing is to put into practice our integrating capacity that ends up configuring a panorama where we can all enjoy the same opportunities. We must also remember that autism does not suffer only one day. In other words, awareness-raising actions, resources and support must be present throughout the 365 days of the year.
